Isfahan, capital of the Safavide Persia, is surely one of the most famous cities in the carpet world. The piece illustrated here can surely come to be part of the "top" circle, as it belongs to the famous school of "Serafian," dating back to an era prior to World War Two (1930-1940). The carpet of interest here has a knotting of about 1,300,000 per sq.meter that was made possible by the weaving and warping done in silk. Made entirely in what is normally called "Kork wool," it has a design symmetry and a color combination that are rarely found in other models. It measures 277cm x 145cm.
